Great conversation on The Art of Paid Traffic today all about landing pages with a really smart guy -- Oli Gardner.

Oli is the co-founder of Unbounce which, if you’re not familiar, is a site for marketers where they offer helpful tools and resources to easily create high converting landing pages for your campaigns.

Oli is an expert in landing pages, conversion & optimization, design, and also things like copywriting, UI and branding.

In Today's Episode, You'll Learn:

  • The elements every highly converting landing page should have.
  • The heiarachy structure every marketer should go through when creating a landing page. Hint: this is a really important process most of us aren’t going through.
  • Oli’s recommendation for how to properly optimize a landing page.
  • He answers the question - if he could just give 3 copywriting tips for a great landing page, what would they be?
  • Landing page designs that he’s liking (and not liking) these days.
  • And a whole lot more...

Today's episode is all about Pinterest ads, something we've not yet covered here on the show. Joining me to share her expertise is Pinterest expert and my friend, Cynthia Sanchez from ohsopinteresting.com.

Cynthia is a coach, she's a consultant, speaker, blogger and podcaster all on the topic of Pinterest.

In today’s episode of the AOPT, we’re talking about LinkedIn ads with LinkedIn expert Stephanie Sammons.

If your target customer is a professional who is on the more affluent side, LinkedIn is a platform that you may want to consider testing if you’re not already.

Stephanie has been writing about, consulting on and speaking about LinkedIn for 4 and a half years and gotten into the paid ads side of it over the past year and a half or so.

She primarily worked with financial advisors and firms, lawyers, accountants and professional services entrepreneurs.

Today’s episode is Part II of my interview with my buddy and Facebook ads expert Keith Kranc.

If you haven’t yet listened to episode #38 with Keith where we talk about how to use story-based Facebook video ads to increase conversions, make sure you listen to that episode first because this episode has some updates to what we discussed.

That’s how fast things are moving with this stuff.

As a background for why I wanted to do a Part II for this interview, Keith reached out to me after we did our initial interview and told me he had some updates he’d love to share with all of you.

Here's what the updates were about:

He and his agency had been invited by Facebook to attend a special agency-only webinar training put on by the Facebook marketing team where they were sharing the latest stats and updates about Facebook video ads.

And then, he and his agency took what they learned in that webinar and are now running some Facebook video ads tests for a couple of their clients.

Today, Keith shares what he learned on the webinar with Facebook as well as early results of the client tests they're running.

Some really interesting updates and insights from Keith here in Part II.

May 26, 2015

In today's episode we're talking Facebook ads again, this time with my buddy Keith Kranc.

Keith recently visited the Facebook offices in Austin, Texas where he met up with his Facebook ads account rep and he left with some really interesting takeaways. Specifically, how Facebook wants us to approach Facebook ads these days.

Today Keith shares what he learned during that meeting and how we can all use this information to make our Facebook ads even better.

You'll hear that we talk a lot about Facebook video ads. Video is where it's at right now with Facebook and if you're not doing Facebook video ads, it's definitely time to get on board.

Today I’ve got one of my closest friends joining me, Amy Porterfield, to talk about social media sales funnels.

We’ve been talking a lot lately about sales funnels here on the podcast, like with Russell Brunson in episode 29 and Jody Underhill in episode 33, and I realize many of these conversations have been more advanced.

So I wanted to take a step back and cover sales funnels more for the beginner. Amy's been focusing much of her efforts on these strategies lately.

So if you’re just starting out, maybe you’re just now getting your product together, this episode is for you.

Amy shares the exact 7 steps that make up a personalized social media sales funnel strategy that's is simple-to-set-up, non-techy, automated, and most importantly, it’s a profit-generating machine.

If you’re Selling a product or service online and want to put a system in place for automating your revenue, you know, we’ve talked about it a lot here on the show, that having a social media sales funnel that converts is the backbone of a profitable business today.

If you’re interested in joining Amy’s Profit Lab program, go to amyporterfield.com/rick and you can sign up there. Remember, depending on when you’re listening to this episode, enrollment closes on May 26th.

May 19, 2015

Today's episode of the Art of Paid Traffic is a solo episode where I’m going to be talking about Facebook video ads.

I share what kind of results I’m seeing with them, what you should know about them, and some tips & tricks for getting great results with your video ads.

So in addition to 2015 being the year of retargeting on Facebook, it’s also about video.

When Facebook came out and reported their first quarter earnings, they said that there are 4 billion video views being served every day on Facebook right now.

That’s a whole lotta video.

And If you’ve been reading my articles or listening to other episodes of AOPT, you know there’s a shift going on right now with Facebook ads.
As advertisers, Facebook wants us adding value to its users and ideally, in the form of stories that we tell about our businesses.

Gone are the days of scammy offers that aren’t truly enriching people’s lives.

Knowing all of this information, Facebook video ads are a great way to add value to your target audience, engage them and grab their attention.

And, they're crushing it right now on Facebook.

I’m seeing video views as low as $0.01 and leads as low as $0.30.

So today I want to share with you how you can get in on the action and take advantage of video ads to grow your business.

May 14, 2015

I've got a really interesting episode for you today as my guest is Gus Sevilla and he is an expert in running paid traffic to the Latin American market.

I asked Gus to join me because this conversation offers a different perspective on this show than any we've talked about. If you're looking for an opportunity to grow your business outside of the U.S. where paid traffic is a lot less expensive, this episode will really give you a lot to think about.

May 11, 2015

In today's AOPT episode, we’re continuing our discussion about sales funnels but this time from a copywriting perspective. Specifically, how to be consistent in your messaging within your funnels.

And to share with you his expertise in this is Steve Erl who is a copywriter at a company called GameChanger Profits.

We focus a lot today on webinar sales funnels but the copywriting concepts and ideas we discuss are relevant to any sales funnel.

May 4, 2015

Another great AOPT episode today, talking again about one of my favorite topics — sales funnels.  And joining me to share sales funnel tips and strategies is Funnel Architect & Conversion Specialist, Jody Underhill.

Jody’s currently a partner at GameChanger Profits where he architects sales funnels for clients and used to be at Digital Marketer, Ryan Deiss’ company, where he also helped architect funnels.  He’s also a local marketing strategist.

Jody really knows his stuff as you'll hear today.

In Today's Episode, You'll Learn:

  • Overviews of successful sales funnel strategies
  • Where to start when building your sales funnel, including where most people get it wrong
  • Specific types of funnels you might consider using for your business
  • Types of email sequences and timing for when to send emails
  • What a highly converting webinar sales funnel looks like
  • What a sales funnel might look like if a webinar doesn’t make sense for your business
  • The concept of a liquidation offer and how to use it to pay for your paid traffic costs
  • Tips on how to go about creating the right kind offer for your business, including -- a liquidation offer, a tripwire, upsells/downsell offers
  • Jody also shares what to do when people have gone all the way through your webinar funnel and haven’t bought from you.

Today's a listener case study episode where Art of Paid Traffic listener Matt Johnson joins me on the show and I give him a live Facebook ads coaching session.

Matt is from runneracademy.com and he’s also the host of Runner Academy Podcast and Everyday Runners Podcast.

Matt won a contest I ran a little while back where people left a rating/review for the show on iTunes and I chose a winner at random to win an on-air Facebook ads coaching session with me.

In today’s episode of The Art of Paid Traffic, we're talking about local marketing for small businesses.

Now if you’re not a small business, don’t not listen to the episode because there’s a lot of tips that we discuss today that are super relevant for any business.

Specifically we’re talking about PPC remarketing and I’ve invited my friend Michael Alaniz who’s the founder of the marketing agency Local Loop Marketing to join me on the show.

Michael’s a Google Certified partner and an expert in local marketing.

In Today's Episode, You'll Learn:

  • Why for local small businesses, remarketing is as necessary as having a website
  • What types of small businesses should be using PPC advertising and remarketing
  • Exactly (step-by-step) how small businesses should get started with remarketing
  • What elements make up a good remarketing ad banner for small businesses
  • What kind of budget you should expect to pay in order to be successful with remarketing (I bet Michael's answer will surprise you)
  • How to get direct help from Google by calling them on the phone (phone # is below!)
  • How you can get started with Google PPC remarketing, including running your ad banners for around $70

Today I’m excited to welcome James Schramko to the show.

James is the founder of SuperFastBusiness.com which is a business that teaches you how to quickly make your business more profitable.

He’s got a great story, having come from being a car salesman at a BMW dealership to having an uber successful online business. And his online business has had different iterations to what it is today, which you’ll hear James talk about.

Now, I invited James on today because I knew he’d offer a different perspective on paid traffic. My goal here with the show is to give you ideas and viewpoints and strategies around paid traffic and James definitely offers a different one here today.

In his business, James has fine-tuned a system for marketing his content without the need for paid traffic. Well, James does invest in it but not in the traditional sense that we generally talk about it here on the show. And he teaches his methods to you today.

Apr 14, 2015

In this episode of The Art of Paid Traffic, I’m excited to welcome Russell Brunson to the show.

If you're not familiar with who Russell is, he started his first online company while he was in college and within a year of graduating he had sold over a million dollars worth of his own products and services from his basement.  Not too shabby.

For over 10 years now Russell has been starting and scaling companies online including a software company, a supplement company and a coaching company.

He’s the founder of Clickfunnels and he’s also the author of a brand new book called DotComSecrets which is all about growing your business through sales funnels and email marketing.

I blew through it in a matter of days and it’s hands-down the best book I’ve come across about sales funnels. If you want to pick up a copy of DotComSecrets for yourself,. You can actually get it for free until April 21st, you just have to pay for S&H which is $7.95. Just go to rickmulready.com/russell.

Because i liked the book so much, I wanted to make sure I got him on the podcast here to talk about sales funnels and email marketing.

In today's episode we’re diving into Google AdWords with Certified Google Partner Ryan Masters.

Specifically, we're going to cover the 3 foundational campaigns every Google AdWords advertiser needs.

Seven years ago, the business that Ryan’s family owned only had $500 left to survive.

So what did Ryan do? Well, what entrepreneurial person would do, of course!

He built an e-commerce website from scratch, dove into AdWords and in 2012 it was doing a healthy six-figures and was sold.

Ryan is a Certified Google Partner and helps e-commerce owners grow & dominate online. One of his clients, SunshineYoga.com for example, he helped them grow almost 3000% in just over 4 years.

He is the founder and host of the YouTube channel, Sparta Strength, which has over 10 million views & 100,000+ subscribers worldwide.

In this episode of the Art of Paid Traffic, Perry Marshall, author of '80/20 Sales and Marketing: The Definitive Guide to Working Less and Making More' explains why and how the concept of the 80/20 principle can be applied to growing your business through paid traffic.

The 80/20 rule, or Pareto's Principle, states that 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts or input.  Perry shares exactly how to use this principle to grow your business while working smarter rather than harder.

In Today's Episode, You'll Learn:

How to use the 80/20 principle to squeeze more out of your paid traffic.

How to use 80/20 to figure out where you should be spending your advertising dollars.

What 80/20 tells you about where to find your customers.

Perry shares the concept of “racking the shotgun” and why this is a concept you need to understand if you want increase your paid traffic results.

Why he pushed a bunch of people away from buying his book on Facebook ads and the lesson we can all learn from this.

How do you decide where to focus your energy to get the biggest ROI for your business possible?

The concept inside of every 80/20 is another 80/20 and another and another...

And a whole lot more!

Today on the show I’m happy to introduce you to Kimra Luna. If you don’t know Kimra yet, I’m guessing you’re gonna start hearing a lot about her because what she’s created with her business in a very short amount of time is remarkable.

I’ve gotten to know Kimra a bit over the last few months. I first met her in December at a mastermind that my good friend James Wedmore hosted up in Laguna Beach.

We geeked out about Facebook ads and she began telling me her strategy for how she uses them to grow her business. We get into that strategy today.

Kimra just finished up a launch of her flagship program called Be True Brand You where she did over $720,000 in sales while spending about $13,000 in Facebook ads.

She’s got an inspiring story which you’re going to hear about today.

Mar 31, 2015

Today's episode is one of our Q&A shows and this time we're focusing on questions around Facebook ads.

People have emailed in or asked questions via voicemail which you can do here on the Show Notes page.

A couple of these questions also come from a presentation I did last week at Social Media Marketing World here in San Diego. The presentation was all about Facebook ads fundamentals but I got a lot of great questions that were more advanced too so we'll be covering those as well.

If you have a question you’d like me to answer in an upcoming episode, whether it’s about Facebook ads or any other paid traffic strategy, just click the orange "Start Recording" button below and you can leave me a voice message there with your question.

If I don’t know the answer, I’ll find someone who specializes in the topic of your question and get the answer for you.

In today's episode of The Art of Paid Traffic podcast we dive into a new paid traffic strategy in the Yahoo Gemini ad network.

With me to talk about it is Jay Leishman who’s crushing it right now and he's going to share with you what it is and how best you can be using it to get traffic for your business.

Jay has been in the digital marketing space for the past 15 years and he specializes in driving traffic and lead generation for a variety of different clients.

When I first started talking to Jay about having him on the show, he was telling me all about the success he’s having on the Gemini network and I had never even heard of it. I spent 2 years at Yahoo selling online ads and so the fact that I'd never heard of it was super weird.

Well, in our interview here, Jay explains why I’d never heard of it before.

Mar 24, 2015

Today we’re going to talk about YouTube ads again, this time about things like who should and shouldn’t be doing YouTube ads and best practices for what you should do right when you’re starting with YouTube ads.

You might have noticed that I’ve spent several episodes already on YouTube ads, well, it’s because they’re a huge opportunity that people are just now starting to take notice of. I don’t know, maybe that means I shouldn’t be sharing things about them.

To talk to us today about YouTube ads, I’ve asked, Tommie Powers, who was my guest back on episode 11 where we talked about sales funnel analytics, to join me again for today’s episode.

Tommie knows YouTube ads really well, he’s been doing them forever, and he was one of the small group of people who were recommended to me when I went looking for the world’s foremost experts on YouTube advertising.

If you’ve not yet heard episode 11, definitely check that one out because it’s a great one, but Tommie’s affectionately known as Tommie Traffic because he specializes in online lead generation and conversion & optimization. He’s been in the digital marketing space for over 15 years and he REALLY knows his stuff.

Mar 20, 2015

In today's episode we're revisiting the topic of YouTube marketing, talking this time about sales funnels and video marketing strategy with Derral Eves.

Derral is a video marketing expert, a YouTube certified consultant and he specializes in growing audiences, generating over 1 billion views on YouTube.

When I first began looking for YouTube experts to come on the show here, Derral was one of the guys everyone recommended.

By the way, I want you to go subscribe to his YouTube channel because he does something really cool with it when you land on his page. It’s a trick I’ve never seen done before and I’ve since learned we can all do it. So click here for Derral’s YouTube channel. Really cool stuff.

Mar 13, 2015

In today's episode of The Art of Paid Traffic I’m really excited to welcome Charles Kirkland to the show.

Charles was referred to me by one of my previous guests here on the show and I gotta tell you, this guy knows his stuff.

He runs a company called the Media Buyer Association where they serve marketers, speakers and small business owners, teaching them how to use media buying to get consistent and profitable leads and sales.

Specifically today, we're talking about pre-sell pages.

I asked Charles before the show, let’s talk about THE thing that’s working the best right now when it comes to paid traffic. Can we narrow it down to one thing?

And he said, oh yea, pre-sell pages.

Mar 10, 2015

On today's show, Jim Belosic, who is the CEO of ShortStack, joins me to talk about lead magnets that convert.

With The Art of Paid Traffic, this is the show where I bring you the best tips, tactics and strategies for using paid traffic to grow your business on autopilot. You’ll also hear what’s working (and not working) right now from the top minds in online marketing so you can get more leads and sales every day without having to empty your wallet in the process.

We get into a great discussion with Jim today all about what's working well right now when it comes to lead magnets and how to deliver a meaningful, strategic product/content to attract quality leads.

You'll find this discussion relevant whether you're an online business owner or you have a local brick and mortar business.

In This Episode, You'll Learn:

Whether the format of your lead magnet should be consistent with the paid products that you're leading people to.

Why mobile needs to be a priority when considering your lead magnet, along with some tips and tricks on how to get mobile users to opt-in.

Tips to increase your webinar registrations on your landing pages

Jim shares details of a company’s campaign that got 220,000 qualified leads in a matter of 7 days and then saw a 70% conversion rate of those leads wanting more information about the company.  Boom!

Mar 5, 2015

In today's episode of The Art of Paid Traffic, we're continuing our discussion of Facebook ads compliance and policy and taking a behind-the-scenes look at successful Facebook ads.

I've invited on Curt Maly, who's a fellow Facebook ads guy. He has a digital marketing agency and he also runs a website called Social Media Ad Genius where they run a lot of Facebook ads - about $5 million dollars worth of ads over the last few years. They work with businesses in all different kinds of niches, which you'll hear more about in today's episode.

Curt's a great evangelist for doing Facebook ads the right way and recently visited with their ads compliance team. The visit is really timely because you may have heard about a lot of Facebook ad accounts getting shut down lately.

And, if you do find yourself with this issue, Facebook tends to be vague at best as to explaining why.

Mar 2, 2015

Today in episode 18 of The Art of Paid Traffic, I welcome back Justin Brooke as we shift gears from content marketing, which we talked about in Episode 17, to talk about another really timely topic which is Facebook ads compliance and guidelines.

In case you haven’t yet heard the last episode with him, Justin has been in the paid traffic space for over 8 years now and he runs a digital advertising agency called IM Scalable.  He’s a really well known guy in the space, super smart with this stuff - especially FB ads compliance.

All of a sudden over the past few months more and more people are getting their Facebook ads accounts shut down.  It’s really become alarming.  Even people I know who are legitimately trying to do the right thing are being caught in this.

This is such an important topic right now, I’m devoting this episode with Justin and the next episode with another Facebook ads expert that I have a lot of respect for, Curt Maly.
