Welcome to another Quick Tip episode!

This is where I share a quick tip with you each week that’s related to Facebook ads or online marketing or just general growing your business tips.

In today’s Quick Tip I’m going to reveal how to get over the fear of being on camera!

Also I’m giving myself a challenge starting February 1st, 2020, called The 60-Second Video Challenge. For the month of February I’ll be recording daily videos in order to get more comfortable in front of the camera doing videos, and I’d love for you to join me. To take part all you have to do is post your daily video on Instagram Stories, tag me (@rickmulready) and use the hashtag #MulreadyVideoChallenge. I’ll be choosing a winner at random at the end of February to win an awesome prize, and everyone taking part in this challenge is sure to greatly improve their video presentation skills – while having fun!

Let’s jump into it...

For today’s show I decided to reach back in the archives and share an encore of an episode from 2017, with my good friend Jasmine Star.

Jasmine is a marketing strategist and branding expert, and in this episode she shared a case study and gave us the 3 components of a Facebook Video Ad that had been giving her the best results for her online business.

Even though this conversation was recorded almost 3 years ago and newer apps and tools have come out since then, the concepts Jasmine talks about are still very much relevant today.

This episode today goes along well with a series I have coming soon, where I’ll be looking at how to create content that not only resonates with your audience and attracts them to you, but gets them to take action!

I’m giving myself a challenge starting February 1st, 2020, called The 60-Second Video Challenge.

On the Show Today You’ll Learn:

  • How (and why) Jasmine always approaches her ads with the creation process in mind

  • What she considers to be the “holy grail” of an ad

  • Why it’s important to watch Facebook algorithms changes - and the big trend she is seeing at this moment

  • How she personally responds to each comment she receives on social media – and why she’s really doing this

  • What to consider when trying to decide on the production quality of video to use

  • How you can use topics being discussed in other niches to customize your own ad content

As you’ll hear, Jasmine is now very intentional with everything she does, but she wasn’t always that way. It was interesting to listen to her talk about her journey, because it’s when she did get highly strategic and focused that things really took off for her with her business.

For today’s show I wanted to do something a bit different and take you behind the scenes of a hot seat that one of my Accelerator Mastermind members did during our recent live retreat in San Diego. She won’t be appearing on this episode with me, but you’ll be hearing a breakdown of what was covered during the hot seat, along my recommendations and key takeaways for her.

Lisa Richey is the founder of Manners To Go, which teaches children the proper manners and etiquette they need to succeed in life. Lisa current offers a curriculum for teachers and schools, as well as a certification program.

At this time the certification and licensing side of her business is doing really well, so she wanted to focus her hot seat on the education side of things. We helped Lisa map out a strategy for the next quarter to really get the ball rolling by building her email list and generating more sales of her curriculum bundles.

As you’ll hear in this episode, Lisa walked away from the hot seat with a very detailed strategy, and a step-by-step process for what she needs to focus on over the next 90 days, and beyond. This is really a discussion about what you should (and shouldn’t) be spending your valuable time on, along with practical strategies that you too can use for your next launch!

Want to win a 30-minute strategy session with me? I’ll be drawing one winner at random each month, and all you have to do is give me your feedback on this podcast over at http://rickmulready.com/messenger, telling me what you’d like to hear more of - including topics you’d like to see covered, guests, style and frequency of the show!

On the Show Today You’ll Learn:

  • Lisa’s past experiences running ads and a common mistake she made that affected her results

  • What to make sure of when you’re defining your target audiences

  • How to start growing your email list, and the three things to remember when creating your lead magnet

  • A strategy I recommend she use for running her Facebook and Instagram ads, and why I believe Pinterest needs to be part of her organic and paid strategy

  • How a solid strategy using video can do more than just help Lisa gain awareness

  • Why launching with a live webinar, and optimizing it first, is important to do before even considering moving to an evergreen one

  • A launch checklist that you can use for your next launch, plus what to focus on and what can be left until later in the process

  • The most important emails to focus on (and this may surprise you…)

Today I want to dive into a topic that I think is such a critical piece of growing an online business. If you’re looking to grow your brand and position yourself as a thought leader and authority in your space (plus grow your email list and sell more of your products and services), being a guest on other podcasts is a great way to do it! Podcasting is still very much in its infancy, but it’s ready to explode, and I’ll share the stats in this episode to back this up…

So how do you go about getting on other podcasts? I hear excuses from people I speak with all the time, listing all the reasons why they can’t do it. I’m telling you that every single person listening right now has unique gifts to share with the world! You won’t be able to help the people that need your help by playing small though, which is why the message that I have to share in this episode is so important for you to understand.

Not only am I going to give you my blueprint for growing your brand using podcast appearances, but I’ve also asked some of my friends to join me on this episode to share their best tips and strategies as well!

The people I’ve asked on are super successful online business owners, and you just may recognize the names in this All-Star lineup. You’re going to hear from Pat Flynn, John Lee Dumas, James Wedmore, Amy Porterfield, Jenna Kutcher, Tarzan Kay and Julie Solomon, and I was blown away by their expertise and what they share about getting on other podcasts (and I’m sure you will be too)!

  • What you need to always lead with when approaching podcast hosts about being on their show, and what to do before you even reach out

  • One of the best pitches, word for word, that I’ve even gotten from a prospective guest

  • How case studies can be effectively used and the ways I’ve implemented them

  • An Instagram DM video strategy that shows the host that you’re going above and beyond the typical email pitches they receive

  • Other incredible insights from the top online business owners in the industry!

Today’s guest recently posted in the Foundations Facebook Group about the success she was having with her Facebook ads, and I knew that I had to feature her here on the podcast. Kate Dillon is in a very niche market (in fact, she’s known as the “Girl Who Sells Race Car Parts") and she has an e-commerce business that will break 7-figures this year. What we really cover in this episode though is her journey in starting and growing her online training business in 2019, and all the lessons that she’s learned along the way.

Kate initially created an online course for race car drivers, which she turned into a membership site in the latter part of last year. You’ll hear about the first webinars she did to promote her offering, and what happened when she really got intentional with her Facebook ads marketing (and stopped just boosting posts)!

She admits that at first, Ads Manager was “freaky and scary”, but Kate has done an amazing job running her ads to increase the number of people on her webinars, sales, as well building her list, and you’ll hear how she’s done it.

Kate uses a ton of videos in her business, and she is effective at using Facebook Groups in her overall marketing strategy, among other things. You’ll really want to listen for how she knows her target audience so well. It’s this knowledge that drives all of Kate’s messaging and marketing to an audience that isn’t used to purchasing online course offerings and trainings.

I can’t wait to see how Kate progresses this year, and I got so much insight from what she had to say in this conversation. There is so much good stuff she shares here that you can start using in your own online business too!

  • How Kate got into the race car business, after getting her degree in interior decorating and working in architecture for 7 years

  • What really opened her eyes to the amazing opportunities available in the online space

  • The lessons Kate took from a previous “failure” and the ultimate dream she has for her online business

  • What the process of launching her first course looked like, and why she says that creating it was the “easy part”

  • The way she pivoted to offering a membership program, what her first webinar experience was like, and the way she upped her Facebook ads game for the second one

  • All the stats from her webinar, including ad spend, cost per lead and her insane conversion rate
  • What to consider when determining what audiences to target and messages to use with them, plus the challenges Kate faced in her marketing to her own niche

  • How Kate is continuing to build her email list in order to achieve even more success this year
