This has been a massive year of growth for the podcast, and I first want to thank you for this! I want 2020 to be a big year of growth in your business as well, which is why I’m bringing you tips and strategies for how to win with Facebook and Instagram Ads in the near year. On last Friday’s Quick Tip I talked about the 7 areas I recommend you focus on in 2020, but you may have noticed that I didn’t include ads as one of these areas. That was intentional, because it should be a given that we always need to be focusing on advertising, because it really has been “pay to play” for awhile now in the online space. If you’re not using paid ads to generate leads and sales, you are missing a huge opportunity!
In this episode I’ll be talking about what’s changed with ads and the reasons that they continue to be both eye-opening and exciting for online entrepreneurs. I’ll give you my thoughts on where are things are heading, and in addition to the 7 key ways to win with Facebook and Instagram Ads in 2020, I’ll be including two bonuses at the end of the episode that you’ll want to listen for.
As with the last episode, nothing I share here is earth shattering, but try focusing on and testing a few strategies that I speak about today, and you could see amazing results in 2020 (and beyond)!
Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. If you’ve gotten value from this podcast, I’d really appreciate you subscribing and leaving an honest rating and review. Take a screenshot, share it on your Instagram Stories and tag me, @rickmulready. When we hit the 750 ratings and reviews, I’ll be raffling off a book bundle of my top 10 business and mindset books for one lucky winner. If you’ve already left a rating and review, just take a screenshot and tag me on Instagram, and you’ll be eligible to win as well!
Want to win a 30-minute strategy session with me? I’ll be drawing one winner at random each month, and all you have to do is give me your feedback on this podcast over at http://rickmulready.com/messenger, telling me what you’d like to hear more of - including topics you’d like to see covered, guests, style and frequency of the show!

Today we’re going to continue with the productivity theme on the podcast, and if you missed the bonus episode from this past Monday with Neill Williams, you’re going to want to check that one out too! In this episode my good friend Craig Ballantyne is rejoining me (now as a guest for the third time!), to talk about his latest book called The Perfect Week Formula.
Craig is an expert in productivity for entrepreneurs, and he was one of my original mentors (and continues to be) since I started in the online space. His books and content have helped me so much over the years, and I know they can do the same for you too.
In this episode Craig reveals what it means to have a “perfect week”, what to really focus on to get more done, and the way you can leave a lasting legacy with the work that you do.
He shares his brilliant “Billionaire Time Matrix” concept, along with the four questions that can save you 10 hours a week – and who wouldn’t want to have that?
Craig talks about how top performers end their days to guarantee success, and he shares his “Blackout Game” that I had never heard of before. This is a challenge and system that as an entrepreneur, you’re going to want to see if you can implement it!
This was a wide-ranging conversation that covered a lot, and what I like about Craig is that he always gives strategies and tactics that you can use right way. This conversation is no exception, because the stuff Craig reveals in this episode can change your life very, very quickly!

Are you looking to accomplish more and see bigger results in your personal life and business, but in less time? This is something that I’ve really been working on since the birth of my daughter, which is why I was looking forward to bringing Neill Williams on to the podcast to talk about how it can actually be done. Neill is “The Feel Better Coach” and a member of my Accelerator Mastermind, and she recently presented some amazing strategies and tips to the rest of the group at our recent retreat, which you’ll hear in this episode.
Neil is a certified life coach, mom and wife, and in addition to building her business she still is an employee in the corporate world. Neill is a high-achieving person, but was finding it hard to get all the things she needed to do done. She did eventually figure out the way to get the life she wanted, while taking care of herself in the process, and what she talks about here is a real eye-opener.
In this episode Neill reveals what her life looks like now, including what she does to build a successful in business by only working 3 days a week (and getting more done in 25 to 30 hours than she had previously done in 50 to 60)!
There was a mindset shift that was needed, and today Neill shares what this was, as well as the complete system she uses to crush each week and month. You’ll hear that we really don’t have to be working 18-hour days as entrepreneurs, and our schedules don’t have to be jammed packed with things to do every day. Also, it’s not hard work and hustle that will generate the results you want to see.
I had a Google doc open while Neill and I were having this conversation, and I took down so much good stuff during it. So are you ready to get intentional about your life and see what happens when you do? Let’s do it!

Today’s guest is an Accelerator Mastermind member who has come a long way in her business in a relatively short amount of time, and I’ve really wanted to introduce you to her. Ashley Shaw helps top-tier social sellers and entrepreneurs eliminate the overwhelm in their marketing efforts so they can have the business of their dreams, and doesn’t just show others how to do this, she has taken the actions to create this reality in her own life.
In this episode you’ll hear all about how Ashley’s background has contributed to where she is today, including her first real sales experience selling $1,200 knife sets, her 16 years of fitness and sales experience and her time climbing the corporate ladder to the top of an organization.
Ashley loves teaching others and understanding how to move people to action, and she reveals something I didn’t know in this episode, that she actually has an English Literature degree she now uses in her work creating content and emails for herself and her clients.
You’ll hear what led Ashley to create her Fitness Leader Institute online platform, and how she launched her very first $49 course. She talks about how she realized she was waiting on the sidelines at the start of last year, and the shifts in both her business model and mindset that allowed her to go “pro” as she now offers a muti-tiered membership to her customers.
Along the way Ashley has recognized the opportunities available to her, and her business has constantly progressed to a point at which she is now generating her goal of almost $30,000 revenue each month. She’s achieved her goal of scaling her business while actually working less, and she and her husband recently were even able to travel for 6 whole weeks while Ashley only had to work about an hour each day.
I’m so proud of what Ashley has achieved so far, and I know that she’s just getting started. There are so many good lessons you can take from her story if you keep an open mind, continue to try new things and most of all, just take action!

My guest today is my good friend Greg Hickman, who is the founder and CEO of System.ly. Their mission is to enable and support entrepreneurs to amplify their best so they can spend their time on the things that matter most. Why I really wanted to have Greg on the show today is because a couple months ago he posted something on his Facebook page that really caught my eye, and it’s something that I’ve felt and experienced in the recent past.
Today you’ll hear me read Greg’s entire post, and what he said is something that doesn’t get talked about enough. This is a wide-ranging conversation on what it’s really like to build and grow an online business, and we reveal it all in this episode.
We talk about things like why’s it’s actually ok to feel overwhelmed, and how the problems and challenges that you face in business won’t magically disappear as you grow your business.
Greg shares what happens when you let someone else’s definition of a “successful” business guide your actions, and how you don’t always need to be climbing a mountain and playing the comparison game with others.
This conversation is one that might happen over coffee, or behind closed doors, but not openly on a podcast. We both share our experiences and I think it’s going to provide a lot of value to listeners, which is why I wanted to bring this episode to you today.

Regular listeners of the podcast will know that I’ve been on a journey to discover more about how success comes from taking an inside-out approach, which is why I’m so excited to geek out with today’s guest. My friend Dr. Shannon Irvine helps entrepreneurs train their brains to transform their businesses, and it may take listening to this episode a couple of times to really grasp what she reveals here, but trust me, it’ll be worth it.
As you’ll hear, Shannon is the ideal person to have this discussion with. As she earned her PhD, she discovered that our brains are able to change, and that we can actually hardwire new ways of thinking, acting, and being. When she dug into this internal work and combined it with the strategies she had been relying on for years, she was finally able to integrate her life and her business. She now is able to take time away to spend with her kids, increase her impact through my nonprofit, Mosaic Vision, and grow her revenue.
The best part is that it’s not that difficult to remove the mental blocks that are holding you back, and in this episode Shannon provides tactical tips and action steps you can start taking today to do this, along with access to her free daily brain priming audio series – that just takes minutes a day!
In this episode we cover self-worth, our subconscious, money beliefs and the science behind what makes someone successful, in whatever way you define success. What Shannon shares today shows that it all really comes down to the realization that we are the creators of our thoughts, and we really do have the choice to get where we want to go.

Today you’re going to hear a conversation that I had with my very good friend Mel Abraham, and this might be the most important podcast interview I’ve ever done. I’ve known Mel for several years now and he’s a brilliant entrepreneur, amazing person and mentor to me on so many different levels. Not only is Mel a CPA with multiple online businesses, a best-seller author, a coach and a consultant, but he’s so much more. Although Mel is an expert in entrepreneurial finances and building wealth, in this episode he’s focusing on something that he hasn’t really talked about publicly before – how he’s beating cancer.
I recently invited Mel to speak to my Accelerator Mastermind group at our retreat in San Diego, and a few minutes before he was set to start I asked him if he would be willing to talk about everything he’s gone through recently with his health, and the lessons that he’s learned along the way.
Mel and I often discuss business and life, and one of the things that has impacted me the most is how he’s rebalanced his priorities due to the cancer diagnosis, and you’re going to hear how he’s done that today.
This is really a story about how Mel’s starting life with a clean slate, and the way he’s decided to do what makes him truly happy. I want to make sure that you (and myself), are setting our own definition of success too, just like Mel has.

This past August I was a guest on my friend Amy Porterfield’s Marketing Made Easy podcast, where I discussed 3 different strategies (plus a bonus!) for using Facebook ads in your pre-launch, or that crucial 60 to 90 days timeframe leading up to cart open. I wanted to share part of this conversation with Amy here today, because we covered a lot of things that could not only help you launch, but also build your email list year round, lower your ad costs, and a whole lot more.
You’ll hear actual strategies that both Amy and I have used in our businesses to make the best use of this critical pre-launch phase, including some beginner and advanced strategies for you to try implementing in your own business.
What Amy and I talk about in this episode isn’t rocket science. It’s really all about focusing on the basics when it comes to running Facebook ads and launching your new course or program. The people who are willing to be patient and that stick with these basic principles are the ones who will be rewarded in the end!

Today I want to take you through an exercise that can drastically improve the results you’re getting with your Facebook and Instagram ads. This is an exercise that I’ve gone through with quite a few people in the trainings that I do, including at a recent live retreat for my Accelerator Mastermind - and it blew them away!
This exercise is really the upfront work that you need to be doing before you even open Facebook Ads Manager to set up your ads, but I still see so many people not taking the time to do this.
What I’m talking about today has everything to do with your target audience and fully understanding them. Yes, your ideal customer avatar is important, but when it comes to running ads you need to take it a step further and learn how to effectively subsegment your ideal customer. If you’re already doing something like this in your business, or you implement what I share in this episode, let me know over on Instagram, @rickmulready!

Last year I was looking for a new way to launch my Facebook Ad Manager program, and I just didn’t feel like doing a webinar launch, even though it’s something I like to do and have had lots of success with. In the past I’ve also used a traditional video series to launch, where I scripted and recorded the vidoes over the course of a few weeks, but to be honest I could not have hated that process more (even though it was effective and we helped a lot of people with it)! So I decided to combine these two types of launches last year, but with a twist. I created what I call the LiveStream Launch Formula, which I will be sharing with you today.
The first time I used the LiveStream Launch Formula in early 2018 it was so successful, and I had so much fun, that I just knew I had to try it again late last year. Both of these launches ended up being some of the biggest ones I’ve ever had, so today I wanted to teach you how you can use the LiveStream Launch Formula in your own business.
In this episode I’m going to share the framework I use, the big lessons and takeaways I’ve learned from doing it, the results I’ve achieved, and a whole lot more.
So if you’re looking for a new way to launch, I hope you find value in what I have to share today. Don’t hesitate to put your own twist on things though, and as always, keep testing and see what works for you on your next launch. Good luck!

You’ve likely heard the concept of building the “know-like-trust” factor in order to convert leads into sales. As a business owner you have to have some sort of strategy for getting someone from the place of not even knowing who you are, to becoming a paying customer. Understanding your customer journey is critical for your business, which is why I wanted to talk about it today.
This is something I recently took my October mastermind group through, and it opened up a lot of eyes…
Frankly, the customer journey isn’t something that a lot of people teach, but I can tell you that it is a major reason why people aren’t converting leads to sales in their businesses.
On this episode I’m going to break it all down for you and simplify everything, and after listening, you’ll see why your offer most likely isn’t the problem if you’re having trouble getting sales. What I share with you today will help give you better understanding of your customer’s journey, and why it’s so important to your success!

Today’s strategy session is with Amanda Genther, who is best known for creating custom sales page design for people launching online courses, membership sites, higher-ticket group coaching and mastermind groups. Amanda is in a bit of a transition phase, as she’s trying to decide which direction to go in next in her business. As you’ll hear in this episode, she’s got no shortage of options to consider!
Amanda breaks down each of the paths she could go take next, including focusing a course that she’s launched in the past, growing her membership site, restarting her “done-for-you” services work with individual clients, and she has even thought about designing templates for her clients.
Of all of the options that Amanda is considering, there are definitely ones that I like better than the others, and I give her my thoughts on each. One of the options is something that could be considered “easy money”, but it’s not what is going to move the needle for what Amanda really wants to do long-term, so I share with her what I would do instead, complete with a detailed launch strategy to set herself up success.
By the end of this call Amanda commits to this strategy, and I believe that by committing to just one thing and really focusing on it, that’s when things are going to completely change for her and her business. If you are an entrepreneur who isn’t sure which way to go next, what I cover today can help give you clarity as well going forward.

If you’ve been following why I rebranded the podcast to The Art of Online Business, you know that I’ve been thinking a lot about the evolution of my business this past year. In fact, I really changed the lens through which I view my business since the birth of my daughter in December of 2018, which I’ve talked a lot about recently. I felt like I was doing you all a disservice by teaching only one piece of the puzzle, and building a truly impactful business requires a lot more than just Facebook and Instagram ads (although they are still an integral part of it all)!
It’s easy to overlook the other critical things that are needed, like having the right mindset, getting organic traffic and building out a team, to name a few. It’s for this reason that I have created what I call the “Impact Entrepreneur Framework”, which is made up of four stages, or systems, of an impactful business. When you’ve mastered each of these four systems within the framework, you’ve got a business that makes a lot of money, is profitable and truly makes an impact on a ton of people!
I’m going to break down this framework for you today, and if you’re a visible learner like I am, I’ve created a diagram of the framework that accompanies this episode, and you can find the link to download it at https://s3.amazonaws.com/RickMulready.com/Accelerator/impact_framework_092719.pdf
